Skidelsky Building, Brighton College, UK.
The Skidelsky Building is the first of a nine new building proposal for the Brighton College Independent School. It provides new classrooms, a laboratory and common rooms.
In-keeping with the context of the previous school houses traditional materials where used and the building style referenced in its simplistic design.
The new building offers three times the floor space of the period building it replaces. A restricted site brought along its challenges, which were amplified by the adjacent Grade I and II listed campus buildings.
Working to a tight budget DDA worked closely with the architect to manage costs and advised on where structural efficiencies can be optimized.
