The proposed works were to convert and re-develop the existing buildings into 14 residential dwelling units and involved structural alteration, refurbishment, extension and repair of the existing buildings.
The site contains five main buildings each of traditional masonry and timber construction. The buildings are predominately two storey. Two of the buildings have part basements. Previously the site consisted of a former police station and magistrate’s court with associated offices, out buildings and accommodation.
We were commissioned to undertake a structural engineering inspection of the existing buildings and to provide a report of our findings and recommendations for any repairs or remedial works required.
Following the initial report we were commissioned by Chignal Properties to provide the structural Engineering design for the proposed conversion works up to R.I.B.A Stage 3.
